Gameplay[]
The game follows Ame-chan and the player character, P-Chan, who is her partner and producer. Ame wishes to become a popular streamer, going by an online alias known as "K-Angel" to earn money through super chats from viewers. The main goal of the game is to get one million subscribers in less than 1 month. Every day, through a Windows 9x-esque user interface, P-Chan can decide what activities Ame-chan does every day in order to grasp new ideas for streams, which will also raise or lower three stats in very different ways: stress, affection, and mental darkness.
Ame-chan can only stream at night. During her live streams, the player has the role of a content moderator tasked with deleting inappropriate comments or highlighting them for Ame to read. Streaming is the main way of increasing her follower count, the most "important" stat and entire reason of the game.
At the end of every activity or stream, Ame will post on Tweeter pertaining to them in her main persona account K-Angel, and her private account, the latter in which she will usually express her real thoughts. Each day is also split into three stages (Dusk, Night and Tomorrow) and every activity takes up one or two stages. Your stats will directly influence what of the 27 endings the player receives.
Characters[]
Ame-chan / OMGkawaiiAngel-chan[]
Ame-chan is the main character of the game. The player, P-chan, is tasked with managing her daily activities and streams for the entirety of the game. OMGkawaiiAngel (K-Angel) is her internet alter ego.
P-Chan[]
P-Chan is the player character's self-insert. Their gender, design and name are unknown. They are shown to be the significant other of Ame-chan.
In the ending Comment Te Dire Adieu, a note labelled as "secret.txt" reveals the fact that P-Chan is nothing more than a figment of Ame's imagination.
Trivia[]
- The English version's name was originally meant to be called NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE as well as its Japanese counterpart, but this was changed because of the mention of drug use in the word, 'overdose'.
- The title is a pun in Japanese; nīdī (ニーディー) refers to"2D", i.e. two-dimensional, thus "needy girl" is a double entendre for "2D girl".
- The main processor of the windows themed interface is named "raincandy", alluding to the two different meanings of Ame-chan's name; Rain, and Candy, respectively.
